Our opinion about Julie+Romeo
In this text, my friend and I have chosen to write about my impressions and experiences after seeing the play "Julie+Romeo" with Katja Brita Lindeberg and Frode Eggen.
Like two ninety-nine students in a sweaty gymnasium, the theater started with an angel coming out of nowhere and a knight. We're not going to lie, at this point and moment we really didn't get the gist of what this play was either going to be about or what we were going to be spending sixty minutes of our lives on, but as the play progressed, things started to make a lot more sense than before. All in all, a slow start, but throughout the play we saw improvement in both the actors and the plot itself. It's always a plus when the audience becomes part of the show. Especially when my friend was a co-star in the theater.
We didn't understand the theme at first. Okay, it's called Romeo and Juliet, but when both actors show up as clowns at a tenth birthday party, our minds began to wander. We later found out that this was a modern version of Shakespear's old love story, and we just howled with laughter and joy. Things made a lot more sense, and you could see how even a wonderful relationship between a boy and girl, or boy and boy, or girl and girl, can end in tragedy.
The theater showed many sides of the society we live in, and it was exciting. Many of the problems we face today were reflected in the play. All in all, it's a bit difficult to understand, but once you do, it makes a lot of sense and, not least, makes you laugh!
