Wombs - Mamelukk Dansekompani

We (the bloggers) were really looking forward to seeing this show. We had a lot of expectations for this performance, and it was probably the exact opposite of what we envisioned, but not necessarily in a bad way.

We imagined that we would encounter traditional music and costumes. We also thought they'd be wearing vulva costumes, and that they'd be joking around a lot more. In our heads we thought it would be much more literal, but it was more metaphorical than we thought.

We thought this show was really cool, and that the ladies who put it on were really good. They put a really nice perspective on what it's like to be a woman, and what it's like to have women around you. They had a lot of empathy. They also looked like they were enjoying themselves on stage. In "Wombs" they show how the female body develops in its monthly cycle. We get to see strong dances about menstruation, having children and ovulation. "The music, dance and lighting worked really well together. It was cool to see girls dancing hallingdans. This performance showed a lot of "girl power".

The songs that they danced to were created while we watched, and it was very fascinating to watch.

"Even though we loved the show, it was a bit difficult to interpret what they really meant. We think that the age group should be from 14-100 because we think that those who are under 14 don't understand much of what's really going on.
