A dance performance that takes us to the otherworldly
The silence is a dance performance where we can see various beings dancing and moving with props, backdrops and costumes. It is clear that we are in space. There are various "stones" that act as shells, and transparent plastic that contributes to the extraterrestrial atmosphere. The music, or sounds, used during the performance were also sci-fi-like and could resemble insect sounds. Everything was generally very inhumane.
The costumes in Stillheten are sci-fi inspired, they wear lights during part of the dance. When they dance with lights on the costumes, it is completely dark, which means that the dancers create shapes that are almost a little extraterrestrial. As I said, they dance around shells and plastic. The transparent plastic reflects colored light as they dance, making it fascinating to watch. It is meant that you have to guess what the performance is about, so when they dance to strange sounds, they make you wonder a little about what they are. The dance is very modern, with movements that are a little different. There are many impressive movements.
This performance is suitable for an audience that is interested in the extraterrestrial and wants to wonder a little. The performance can be a little comical at times, because the dancers move in strange ways that are not human. When they dance unusual steps, and dance to strange sounds, the performance becomes unique. They have managed to create a mysterious performance where you end up thinking, and wondering a little about what this was all about.
We got the impression that the show was about the birth of a new alien species. These go through the various stages of life, such as when they "stuck", when it seemed as if they were fighting with the plastic and when they finally shriveled up and floated around the universe. But this is one interpretation, the performance opens up to many more. The performance managed to get the thoughts and imagination going about what could be going on in the universe, with atmospheric and cool costumes, props, music and dance.
All in all, this show is a good, mysterious and somewhat unique show about the extraterrestrial. It is recommended to anyone interested in aliens, sci-fi, and who wants to see a slightly different but impressive show.
