On Friday, during dinner at Black Box, Ådne and Tobias took to the stage. They were going to talk about a new project, "Utopia nxt". It soon became clear that this was just nonsense, and that something else was about to happen. An actor came up on stage and got Ådne to introduce them. The introduction went something like this: "Get ready for the best 20 minutes of your lives". It didn't take long for more people to come on stage, and the show was on!

"The 20 best minutes of your life" is an improvised performance that takes place in the classroom, or in our case; in the foyer of Black Box. Utopia NXT does not exist. Luckily. The whole thing was a cover-up so that the audience would get the full experience of the performance "The 20 best minutes of your life": The theme, set design, sound and lighting take shape the moment the actors enter. The stories that are told and reflected upon come from the audience. Here is the opportunity to dramatize your life, or to participate in a philosophical reflection on why the bus is always late when it rains. The audience is the source of the themes and stories. Det andre Teateret describes itself in the following way: Almost like regular theater, just a little more fun" (source: Showbox.no)

As you might imagine, the set design was simple. There were no backdrops. That wasn't the important part of the show. When the show was performed for us, two stories were told. One story about a skipper and a teacher boy out at sea, and another story about two young people who found each other and fell in love in the city of love, Paris. Throughout the scenes, the audience was involved, and it was they who decided the action and where it took place. This was a great way to involve the audience, while making the play fun and interesting.

We SUSers enjoyed the show very much. We laughed a lot along the way and enjoyed ourselves. The show is suitable for all age groups, and the storyline will probably be quite different depending on who sees it. For example, if it's performed for a group of five-year-olds, it will probably be quite different from when it's shown to a group of adults.

On Saturday, two performances clashed, which meant that not everyone got to see both. We split up so that some saw the play "Crime and Punishment", while others saw "Wishful Thinking", which is also by Det andre teateret. Rebekka saw "Wishful Thinking" and liked it very much.

All of us whizzes enjoyed The Other Theater, and recommend others to see "The 20 best minutes of your life" and other performances by them. Their shows are fun, and suitable for everyone. The actors are talented, and the lighting and sound are also very good, work well, and lift the performance several notches. Take your friends and family to see a show with Det andre teateret for a great experience!
