One of the inspirations for Young Voices was the Talking Shop project at the Stamsund Theatre Festival, so it's extra nice that we now have a local editorial team at this year's festival. A small editorial team of secondary school students will be following the festival, and on Saturday you can hear about their experiences in a kitchen table conversation with Anette Therese Pettersen.

Who talks and writes about performing arts - in what ways? What kind of criticism and critical practice is suitable for young people?

Performing arts critic and research fellow at Kulturtanken/University of Agder, Anette Therese Pettersen, is in the process of completing a doctoral thesis in which she examines an affective and performative approach to criticism for young people - more specifically: for young people who experience performing arts through The Cultural Rucksack. During the Stamsund Festival, Pettersen has worked with a group of young people who participate in Scenekunstbrukets Unge Stemmer (Young Voices), where the young people themselves have chosen how they will respond to the art they have experienced.

In this talk, Pettersen will give a brief introduction to some of his research findings, and use this as an introduction to a conversation that both deals with Young Voices and looks more generally at what criticism can be and what kind of critical practices may be relevant to young people.

Following the talk, there will also be a celebration of Scenekunstbruket's 30th anniversary.
