Admission to the repertoire and head of the artistic council, artistic content.
Do you have a finished performance for children or young people? Then you can apply to add it to our repertoire.
Scenekunstbruket is the largest nationwide presenter of performing arts for a young target group in Norway. Our repertoire consists of a variety of high-quality professional performances for young people aged 0-20 years. We present varied productions within all performing arts expressions, both Norwegian and international.
To be eligible to apply, you must have a fully produced, professional performing arts production for children or youth and we must have seen the performance live.
Admission to the repertoire has 4-6 application deadlines a year.
Processing time is 6-8 weeks after the application deadline.
Upcoming deadlines:
Tuesday, October 8, 2024
Tuesday, January 7, 2025
Before you begin your application, read the application criteria carefully to see if you can apply
At least one member of Scenekunstbruket's artistic council must have seen the performance live before it can be considered. Therefore, there is no point in applying before an agreed screening is in place. We prefer to see performances together with the target group, but this is not a requirement.
In addition, you must attach a video of the performance so that the rest of the artistic council can also see it.
To be eligible to apply, you must have a fully produced, professional performing arts production for a young target group (0-20 years). It is a prerequisite that the production can be performed on tour, but there are no requirements for form and format.
Performing arts as an artistic expression should weigh heaviest in productions that balance between several expressions.
Key actors behind the performance and on stage must have a professional background in the performing arts. If amateurs or actors from other art fields are used, this must be justified artistically in the application.
The performance must have a clear artistic vision. It is important that you show that you have reflected on how the performance will engage, inspire and create a meaningful experience for children and young people as an audience. The choice of target group must be justified.
In order for the rest of the artistic council to see your performance, you must upload a video as well. Sound and image must be of good enough quality for us to assess the performance, but one camera is sufficient, and preferably as little cutting/editing as possible. You cannot send video. The video must accompany the application for it to be assessed.
It's not that difficult, but it's important to get it right.
It is important that Scenekunstbruket is invited to see the performances that you apply for in the repertoire. Our artistic council and we who work with the repertoire see performances live throughout the year. It is a great advantage that the target group is at the screenings we see. If you would like to invite us to a current screening, send an email to repertoar@scenekunstbruket.no in good time.
The invitation should be sent to us 3-4 weeks before the performance. It should contain information that you wish to apply for admission to our repertoire, as well as brief information about the production, who is involved and where and when it will be performed. Feel free to include a link to the event or tour list.
The whole country
Scenekunstbruket and the artistic council unfortunately do not get to see all the performances that we are invited to see live around the country. We are in dialogue with our organizer network about tours in The Cultural Rucksack, and make use of their expertise and experience. If you are going on a DCS tour in a county, please keep us informed about this.
Feel free to make contact with festivals and markets where you want to play and regional centers for performing arts in areas where you are located. Scenekunstbruket is present in various arenas that show performing arts for a young audience throughout Norway and has a wide network.
Take the time to fill in the form as accurately as you can, taking into account limitations on the number of characters and mandatory fields.
In order to provide a sufficient basis for assessment, one or more members of Scenekunstbruket's artistic council must have seen the finished performance live, preferably together with the target group it was produced for. Video documentation alone will not be considered a sufficient basis for a final decision on admission.
Submitted applications are assessed by the Artistic Council
Council members read submitted applications and watch videos of the performances in their entirety. Scenekunstbruket chairs the meetings of the Artistic Council and must ensure that relevant assessment criteria are discussed when the Council meets to assess applications. The Artistic Council makes a recommendation that forms the basis for Scenekunstbruket's final recommendation for inclusion in the repertoire or not.
Processing time
Processing time is 6-8 weeks after the application deadline. Admissions and rejections will be sent by e-mail.
You cannot reapply for a production that has previously been rejected unless major artistic changes have been made that require it to be considered a new production.
When you are accepted into the repertoire, you will receive an email from us asking for information:
What does it mean to be our repertoire:
*Basic price A is used for demanding physical/technical performances that can only be performed once a day, or in cases where the organizer only wants one performance per day. Basic price B is for two screenings on the same day.
Basic price C is used in cases where performances can be shown three times within 2.5 hours of active stage communication.
Scenekunstbruket's repertoire consists of quality-assessed performing arts productions in all genres for a young audience. The selection is made in collaboration with an artistic council, which is an advisory body.
Scenekunstbruket uses qualified input from an external artistic council to ensure artistic quality, communication quality and representation in Scenekunstbruket's repertoire. The artistic council is appointed by the general manager in consultation with Scenekunstbruket's board of directors, and must make a recommendation as to whether or not to include the work in the repertoire.
Who is the artistic council
The council consists of a minimum of four external persons assembled on the basis of broad professional expertise. Scenekunstbruket is represented on the council and leads the work.
Efforts should be made to ensure that the council includes members from different parts of the performing arts community: performers in theatre and dance, communication and academia. We will also strive for gender balance. The members of the artistic council normally serve for 2 years.
The Artistic Council has the following composition in 2024:
Geir Hytten, Anders Karterudseter, Mariko Miyata-Jancey, Eli-Berit Lillesæter and Tor Christian Bleikli.
What the council does
At least one member of the artistic council must have seen the finished performance live, preferably together with the target group, for the performance to be assessed.
