We got to interview one of the actors in the play "The Kitchen". Ulla is the one who plays the sailor in the play.

What kind of education do you have?
I spent three years in Denmark, in Aarhus, at a theater school called Nordic Theater School, which was a physical theater school. I have also attended a theater school in England.

Did you like the character you played?
I'm very fond of the sailor, yes.

Do you recognize yourself in the character you play?
Ehm.. No, I can't say that it's very recognizable, but of course there are things you have in you, of course I'm the one playing him.
But no, I've used other role models than myself.

What do you think it's like to play a man?
I don't think about it too much, it's fine. He's a human being and that's the most important thing.

Have you been involved in staging the play yourself?
Yes, it's a collaboration with the director.

Is there anything you're particularly pleased with in the piece?
Um.. Yes, I'm actually quite happy to play a man without thinking about it. I think that's a good thing. The fact that you don't think about the fact that you're a man, but that it's a character, I think it's a nice difference between the two characters.

What is the relationship between the girl and the sailor like?
"The relationship is that he's used to being on his own, but at the same time he thinks it's nice to have someone else there because he's not used to it. But it's nice to have someone he can be angry with, yell at and love.
