We come from far far away

Inside the big tent there is a small tent, and inside the small tent there is a boy. He has traveled far. He has mostly traveled alone. He will show you the things he has brought with him. He will also tell you why he traveled, and the road he took, but he can't tell you how the story ends.

We come from far, far away is a theater production based on stories collected at Hvalstad transit reception for minor asylum seekers in Asker. The play follows the young people Omar and Abdallah on their flight from Aleppo in Syria, until one of them arrives at Oslo Central Station. The audience sits inside a tent that is set up at each venue, and the action unfolds close to and among the audience. 

The material in the show is documentary and has been shared with NIE through conversations and workshops. The participants' stories are difficult and unbelievable, but like most young people, they are full of energy, vitality and hope for the future.

Artistic vision:With We come from far, far away, we wanted to create a dialogue about children on the run in the form of a theater performance. The production is for audiences aged 10 years and older. The production is set in the context of the ongoing crisis in Syria, but aims to say something more universal about the topic. NIE's thematic circle has always been about hope, survival and vitality, and in this case, the presentation context has been extra important for the target group. Key words for the production are survival, fear, friendship, separation and the death of a friend.
