Viruset

The virus is a wacky ode to the future visions of trash culture. We find ourselves in a near future where things have gone really wrong. In a small remote bunker is the source of the misery: a machine that plagues the world with horrible viruses. A small team sees an opportunity to right the wrong and give the world a fresh start. An android is hired for the dangerous mission, but they forget that even machine brains can have both self-will and conscience, not to mention a charming personality.   

Jo Strømgren Kompani has constantly renewed itself through an extreme variation of genres, from puppetry to large-scale dance performances, from Ibsen to contemporary drama, from film productions to provocative documentaries, from narrow slide shows to populist entertainment. Now the company chooses to return to a formula that has lain dormant for almost ten years: gibberish melodrama. The mix of cunning and humorous storytelling, incomprehensible language and large doses of dance is for many the company's signature and backbone, consolidated through the company's tours in almost 60 countries.

The performers in "The Virus" communicate with incomprehensible speech. For young people today, growing up with Chewbacca, Wall-E and other gods without language, it should be easy to understand, at least associatively.
