Skyskraperprinsessen

Oral storytelling meets music and sound: A modernized musical version of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tale about a young girl who is kept locked up. In the fairy tale, her name is Rapunzel - today we could just as easily call her Natasha or Madeleine...
SKYSKRAPERPRINSESSEN is oral storytelling art that meets music and sound art - a modernized musical version of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tale about Rapunzel. Instead of being trapped in a high tower, our princess sits at the top of a skyscraper in a dirty city. Instead of a long braid for the prince to climb up, our princess has an elevator.
SKYSKRAPERPRINSESSEN is an experience-oriented project that seeks to actualize the art of storytelling and fairy tales by placing them in a modern and contemporary context. The story of Rapunzel/The Skyscraper Princess, the young girl who is kept locked up, proves time and time again to be frighteningly similar to the real world, as we experience it through the tabloids' constant revelations. The performance is performed by a narrator and a musician.
The performance is supported by Arts Council Norway and The Fund for Performing Artists.
