Seven young people. One classroom. One place. Lots of activity, lots of interactivity. They're learning, but a lot of energy goes into just being. These are their stories.

Young people are often seen as stereotypes by their peers, and sometimes they act out the stereotypes in an attempt to protect themselves and their status.

However, situations and moments can arise in classroom environments where there is a type of human contact where the stereotypical relationship ceases and people get to know each other as complete individuals. Even if good feelings arise, it can be difficult to relate to this, as it is challenging to step out of one's comfort zone. For some, stepping out of their comfort zone can feel like an expression of vulnerability and loss of control.

The performance shows that it's not dangerous to step out of the comfort zones provided by stereotypes; you can be accepted and respected for who you really are.

"The Room in the Classroom" is the story of 7 students, in a classroom, in a school, in any place.

For the performance, 3 students are needed as extras. ODE Ung will contact the schools to find students who can participate in the performance.

The production is supported by Spenn.no, The Fund for Performing Artists, and Arts Council Norway (choreography development support) and Oslo Danse Ensemble.
