A thought-provoking dance performance where breakdance, hip-hop and contemporary dance become a common language - about defying challenges and breaking boundaries!

A notion of how we relate to each other, and how we need each other - in healthy and unhealthy ways. What limitations or opportunities do we encounter in ourselves and in each other?

The performance shows a meeting between people with different cultural backgrounds and different physical conditions. It asks how we relate to each other and expresses needs, hopes and prejudices. You will meet Rayon, a refugee from Eritrea, and Redouan, a break dancer with a disability.

Comments to the workshop:
Redouan Ait Chitt leads the workshop, and Ruben-Arie Slob and/or Rayon Yemane assist. Redouan will talk about his path to breakdancing, with a disabled body, while he illustrates and teaches the students some basic steps of breakdancing: top rock (standing dance) floor rock (floor work) freeeze, and also demonstrates power moves (big acrobatic tricks). The three guys will also talk a bit about what it was like for them to be part of a completely different performance, with a modern/contemporary dance expression, but which was at the same time very true to their own movement language. They end the workshop with a "ring", which is very traditional in hip hop, where you "battle" with the steps you have learned.
