Fisker klatrer ikke i trær
Super Møkk / Kvalheim
-because people with diagnoses don't have to eat vegetables. A show about difference, prejudice and Super Mario.
Encounters between people with different starting points and circumstances in life often invite reflection and contemplation on important interpersonal relationships. This performance is a collaboration between two people and performers, one diagnosed with autism and one without. We follow Silje's desire and attempt to connect with Stian, Stian's need to withdraw, and how this rejection is experienced by Silje.
The performers seek a common platform to understand each other and are inspired by the legendary game Super Mario Bros. They move through sadness, frustration, anger, humor and play. Many people experience the unknown and the different as frightening. Many children and adults are afraid to ask, interact and relate to those who look or behave differently. But what happens when you peel the otherness down to common human emotions that everyone can recognize!
We live in a society today that has definitions for most things. Diagnoses and otherness are terms that are often negatively charged. For students, it is important to see, feel and experience on the body that this does not have to be negative - that differentness is ok, and an important resource in a time full of pressure, facades and strong definitions.
