Faust for kids
Klassikere for kids
Faust wants to know everything about everything that exists, he tries to solve the riddles of the universe. Faust reads and reads, he becomes wiser and wiser, but at the same time he gets older and older. The more he learns, the more his frustration grows over everything he knows nothing about.
Faust has already become an old man and now his time on earth is running out and there are still many things he hasn't had time to explore. That's when the sneaky devil Mephisto sees his chance to trick Faust. Mephisto promises that Faust will get all his wishes on earth. But in order to do so, Faust must promise that the devil will own his soul for all eternity when he dies. But what exactly is a soul? And how long is eternity? Faust wants the answers to all his questions so badly that he succumbs to temptation and agrees to the deal with the devil.
Goethe is one of the most famous European writers of all time. And this particular story is considered his masterpiece. The performance is suitable for ages 10 and up, whether it's your first encounter with the story or if you need a refresher on your Goethe.
Classics for Kids is a theatre trilogy for children from the age of 10, with the aim of making selected classics accessible, topical and problematic. We explore and challenge the conventions of children's theater and work under the mantra that all good themes are suitable for children as well as adults.
The performance is supported by: Arts Council Norway, Kunstløftet, Fond for utøvende kunstnere and Seanse. Co-production: Black Box Teater.
