Du er død, Mrs.Conway!

A tribute to the weird and curly girls who are not like everyone else. A show about identity, love and the fact that you can cheat the rules in the end. Marianne is 13 years old and dreams of becoming an astronaut. She has installed a UV light in her bedroom and is generally a slightly weird and curly girl. Then she meets Susan Mandy, who takes it upon herself to turn Marianne into one of the pretty girls ? one of the mean, sweet and normal girls. Elsewhere, we meet the assassin Mrs. Conway - she's given a new assignment and must change her identity to complete it. "You're dead, Mrs. Conway!" is based on interviews with girls aged 10-16. Isenkramteatret has asked about dreams, nightmares, spies and princesses to find out what it's like to grow up as a girl in our time. In a society where you have to be cute and sexy while being tough and bold. The role models we find in popular culture can be complicated for those who don't feel attracted to the typical "girl things". At the same time, there are many things that almost everyone relates to at this age. Love, boys and the struggle to be accepted by others. Through our research, we discovered that the awareness of oneself as weird or normal comes very strongly and clearly at the start of secondary school. The performance is also filled with the actors' own experiences of growing up, and thus also becomes a performance about two girls who try to explain what it was like to grow up as a strange and different girl. With "You're dead, Mrs. Conway!", Isenkramteatret tries to open up for reflection and discussion about gender roles and identity. Are we allowed to be who we want to be? What are the requirements for a girl to be a "real" girl? Since these issues are very relevant to the target group, we have tried to work with an expression that creates both recognition and distance. That's why we've chosen dolls and figures that are commonly used "toy dolls". We mix this with oral storytelling and simple theatrical effects. Isenkramteatret's expression has been described as poetic, simple and rock'n roll. All text is improvised in collaboration with the actors.
