Da New Age kom til bygda

A performance that focuses on the issues of freedom/boundaries, prejudice, collectivism and individualization, based on the emergence of the alternative movement. Simone Thiis' own story, as the child of Harald Thiis, the founder of New Age in Norway, is the focal point. Stories have emerged from the children of the hippies, of those who grew up in free collectives, from Christiania, but nothing yet from the childhood of the alternative movement in Norway. At Bauker kursgård in Gausdal, where Simone grew up, the community was at the center. The idea behind the whole project was to create a better world. Today, Bauker stands as the most important contribution to alternative thinking in Norway. Simone learned to walk on hot coals and make herbal tea from nettles and birch when she was 10 years old. At the same time, she had to deal with the village school where "everyone was the same" with permed hair and pastel-colored clothes. Prejudice abounded everywhere. 

No one told me that I was different, but I quickly realized that I was, and since we hadn't been given a recipe for how to meet the village, I had to create my own. 

Growing up with a lot of freedom and a father who wanted to save the world (his vision was limitless), Simone struggled with her own boundaries. She has many times gone far beyond the boundaries that are common for many others.  

A humorous and honest performance about a time and a movement seen in the context of the times we live in now and Simone's own upbringing. Behind the many layers of successful irony and undressing of a parental project that has completely lost to the times (read: the naive belief in the downfall of capitalism), there is also a wistful admiration for her father's project.
