Bare en våt munn
Lindeberg/Nilsen
They have attended a womb festival, delved into literature, examined their own gender play and searched for their inner - and outer - goddess in preparation for this performance. But first and foremost, they have listened to women. Based on some twenty raw and honest in-depth interviews with women of different ages and backgrounds, "Bare en våd munn" has been created. This is a documentary theater performance in which the performing arts duo Lindeberg/Nilsen examines Western culture's ideas about femininity and female identity.
They ask what lies behind our own staging of ourselves - what lies in the stories we never tell? Stories about sexuality, the body, shame and power games. The performance is framed by autobiographical texts, gender symbolism and popular culture clichés. It goes straight into a debate and examination of, among other things, female sexuality, where the body and sexuality have become a bargaining chip used to gain room to maneuver. In the performance, the audience enters a "femininity" universe where the clichés are taken to the extreme. The two actors stage themselves as goddesses - strong, sexually liberated, pleasing, caring and murderous. What is required, and what kind of power and privileges do we gain by confronting the heteronormative female ideal of Western culture?
