A dance tribute to ping pong

Table tennis is not just a sport. It's a philosophy. An Asian guru guides his followers through the minefield of modern life and shows them the way to happiness beyond.

The spiritual recipe is a mix of Jin and Jang, Heaven and Hell, Life and Doctrine, Stephen Hawking and Uri Geller, with a bit of Kahlil Gibran and Bruce Lee on top.

Table tennis is seemingly a simple game. But along the way, you may discover that it's surprisingly complex and difficult. Much like life itself.

The company's fascination with the aesthetics, idiocy and universality of sport is as strong as it was 15 years ago. This time, they highlight a sport that everyone knows but many forget, and let a puppet play the main role as a spiritual coach. In addition to a surplus of entertaining dance and quirky situations, the performance offers associations with a more complex theme than the title would suggest.

A Dance Tribute to Ping Pong is an independent sequel to A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football from 1997. After 500 performances in 23 countries, the football ballet is described not only as a modern classic, but also as the biggest export article Norwegian dance has ever had.

In connection with the performance, we offer the workshop A Dance Tribute to Ping Pong- Inside the show. This workshop is held by our experienced dancers and offers an exciting introduction to Jo Strømgren's work, based on various dance sequences from the performance. The workshop can be adapted to all levels, and can be offered to both dance students and students without previous dance experience.
