The lab brings together 14 performing artists from five different European countries to explore gender and sexual identity in theater and dance for children and young people. The artists will live and work together for 8 days, from Monday January 30, through Monday February 6, 2017. Application deadline: Wednesday October 5, 2016.

Gender Lab - how can we use performance to explore gender and sexuality with children? And should we? How can we as artists use our current skills and push ourselves and the sector to create bold and radical work for children? How can we match our personal politic with the work we create and the ways we engage with young people?

Practical information:

  • Application deadline: Wednesday, October 5, sent to push@scenekunstbruket.no
  • The application must be answered in English. English will also be the working language in the laboratory.
  • Read the guidelines carefully before you apply.
  • Remember to save the application document with your name in the title.
  • Attach a photo of yourself. This will be used on the PUSH website, should you be selected.

About PUSH
PUSH is a Creative Europe funded project led by Imaginate (Scotland) together with Cultuurcentrum Hasselt (Belgium), The Ark (Ireland), Aabendans (Denmark) and Scenekunstbruket (Norway). Over the course of two years, we will explore three themes in performing arts for children and young people. Artists from all partner countries are invited to apply to participate in one of three laboratories:

  • Gender and sexual identity Lab in Scotland
  • Migration Lab in Ireland
  • (over)protection Lab in Belgium

The project website is under construction, but for now you can read more on Imaginate's website.
