Norsk Scenekunstbruk is a national provider of professional performing arts for children and young people. We work to develop and strengthen the performing arts field for this target group. Our goal is to ensure that children and young people in all parts of Norway, regardless of background and place of residence, have the opportunity to experience professional performing arts.

Scenekunstbruket was founded in 1994, and every year we present more than 2,000 performances to over 200,000 young people.

Through our quality-assessed repertoire, we present a diversity of productions in all genres of performing arts (national and international) for various organizers. This makes us the largest supplier of performing arts in the Cultural Rucksack.

Our support schemes for artists through funding for new productions and revivals/facilitation for touring contribute to the development of new performing arts for young audiences and an increased number of performances. Taken together, this means that we have a good overview of and expertise in trends and currents in the field.

Our festival Showbox International festival for Performing Arts for Young Audiences was organized for the first time in 2005, and is held every year on different stages in Oslo in week 48. With Showbox and various collaborations, such as the EU project 3Place and the criticism project Young Voices, we create arenas where new ideas, experiences and discussions can be exchanged, provide common references and increase expertise in the professional performing arts field for a young audience.

Scenekunstbruket celebrates 30 years and launches pilot project

30 years ago, Norsk scenekunstbruk was founded as a dissemination scheme for the performing arts. Now, three decades later, we are marking the start with a pilot project that will make the performing arts even more accessible.

It is important for us to do our best to be at the forefront when it comes to a gender-equal and diverse cultural life, and that we in all parts of our business look at routines and measures to prevent sexual harassment and support inclusion. The balance mark helps to raise awareness in this work and clarifies our responsibility. We aim to be a safe workplace, free from sexual harassment.

Equality, gender balance and diversity do not happen by themselves. It requires an awareness and a focus, in all parts of our business. Showbox, and all our other arenas where people meet, must be an arena where artists and audiences are respected for who they are, with the identity and background they have.

As an audience member at Scenekunstbruket's events, we want you to feel welcome, respected and included, and we want you to make sure that your fellow audience members feel the same.
