A secret garden by Fabula Rasa is one of four finalists in the race for the Golden Sack and NOK 100,000.
A Secret Garden is one of two productions nominated for Gullsekken from Scenekunstbruket, and we are delighted that a performing arts production is among four productions that made it to the final.
Read the reason for the nomination from Scenekunstbruket here:
Fabula Rasa has written a new dramatic work based on Frances Hodgson
Burnett's book "The Secret Garden". The book was first published in 1911 and has
been filmed, made into a TV series and broadcast as a radio play. But this is
as far as we know, this is the first time it has inspired a theater production.
Fabula Rasa has written a completely new stage text and peeled away all
adult characters so that only the children are left when the story meets the theater.
The result is a poetic and beautiful story in which three very different
children find each other and together discover friendship, magic and love. This is a
about children, on children's terms, in a visual language rich in associations.
rich in associations. In addition to Burnett's original story, the performers'
personal experiences of the performers are drawn into the performance, making the
the story close and inclusive.
The performance unites several art expressions such as music, video art and
performing arts. It is performed in an intimate and engaging way in a
stage that is built into a gymnasium or similar. The usual school rooms cease to exist.
The story is magical and the space becomes magical too.
Fabula Rasa shows that they have a solid grip on realizing their artistic
artistic intention and will with this story. With good artistic craftsmanship
artistic craftsmanship in several fields of art, the work is released in a performance that
raises existential and philosophical questions that everyone will be able to
identify with. In this way, the performance consolidates its necessity, a
performance we believe is 'important'. Both artistically and philosophically.
Fabula Rasa demonstrates professionalism and responsibility in its artistic
artistic communication to children and young people. The performance is thematically gripping and
artistically interesting. The group has a playful, personal and distinctive
expression that appeals to children as well as adults.
