Performance course for performing artists

Are you a newly established performing artist with children and young people as your main target group? Have you applied for assignments in Den kulturellter skolesekken (DKS) or admission to Scenekunstbruket's repertoire without getting through? Are you wondering what it takes to have a performance shown at Markedet for musikk og scenekunst? 

Cultural thought and Scenekunstbruket invites you to a performance course for newly established performing artists during the Music and Performing Arts Market in Sandefjord, August 25-27, 2026. Travel, accommodation and festival passes are covered by the organizers. 

What do you get as a participant? 

• Introduction to the field in a meeting with representatives from Kulturtanken, Scenekunstbruket , the Market Programme Council and the DKS administrations in counties and municipalities.
• Insight into how performances are programmed for DKS and what kind of quality criteria apply. 
• Research-based knowledge about communicating performing arts to the target group of children and young people 
• Experiences and reflection: See a wide selection of concerts, theater and dance performances for children and young people. Discuss artistic quality and target audience perspectives with other performing artists and actors in the field. 
• Summary seminar: On the last day of the Market, we gather for a joint conversation about quality perspectives based on some of the performances we have seen. 

Why participate? 

The practitioner course should: 

• Raise awareness of artistic qualities in performances for children and young people. 
• Make visible the rich artistic possibilities in this field. 
• Contribute to more good performing arts projects for the target group. 

Practical information 

• Number of places: 8 participants will be selected based on the application form. 
• Coverage: Travel, accommodation, festival pass and most meals. 
• Before the seminar: Joint online meeting with the organizers and participants.
