In this performance, we get to see a whole new side of the classic play "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare. This is a completely new concept where the two roles have been turned into clowns, which allows for a lot of humor.

With a good dose of humor and a completely unexpected change in the plot, this play takes us further in the story, where the original ends. Because what would have happened if the two lovebirds had actually met and moved in together?

It all begins with Romeo and Juliet falling in love and getting married, but instead of dying they continue into a relationship, with all its challenges and problems. In a hysterical way, we see how life goes on for the couple, and they charm each other with barbecues, mini fridges, beer and croquet. It develops into more bickering and jealousy, but greatest of all is love. The play is a comedy, but there is also a deeper meaning behind it, such as what it takes to have a good and lasting relationship.

The actors let themselves go completely and draw the audience into the action. That way, the audience is engaged and it becomes more alive. They also use a lot of props and often improvise. By using clown nose, they get a kind of permission to be able to stretch a little extra and stretch some things. You can also draw links to the Romeo and Juliet movie that was released in the 90s, for example with the costumes and some of the scenes.

"We thought it was a modern performance that still had aspects from the old play. In addition, the play is very relevant for young people today as it is more realistic than the old version.

Before they started to include the audience, it had a tendency to be a bit over the top, but after they started mixing in the audience, it just got better and better. This was a fantastic twist on the original story, which was well received by us in the SUS team.
