Trillefolket is a philosophical children's book by Tore Renberg that addresses issues of loneliness, community and individualism. It is a beautiful and sad story about a kind and round little people, whose motto is Hooray for the whole world! They used to be many, but now there are only six left. And because they are so few, they are inseparable. Then suddenly one day Kjartan, the group's troubadour, is gone. The trillers are in shock and search everywhere. What they don't know, however, is that Kjartan no longer wants to be one of the crowd. He will do without his Trillefolk. In its stage version of Renberg's book, Teater Joker plays the cheerful, bouncy, round Trillefolket with large puppets that are so round they hardly have necks. The performers roll out this cheerful story together with the puppets. In a number of popular productions, Teater Joker has managed to create a rich and associative world that triggers children's imaginations, using only a minimum of props and stage design. The comic strip, for example, is a good illustration of the theme of Trillefolket: To be dependent on each other.
