A performance lecture about the physics of sound, Norwegian arms exports, war's ability to create meaning, acoustic bazookas and children's songs used as torture. As Major Hilding Runar puts it: "Music can change people's lives." Or as Sergeant Mark Hadsell puts it: "If we play you heavy rock for 24 hours straight, your brain and body functions start to fail, your thoughts slow down, and your will breaks. That's when we come in and talk to you." Or as Defense Minister Grete Faremo puts it: "I'm pleased to report that exports of Norwegian military equipment abroad have experienced strong growth in recent years." Or as Norwegian soldiers in Afghanistan put it: "Being in combat is worth the three months without sex... it's better than fucking!" Amund Sjølie Sveen continues his dissection of the Norwegian self-image and his own artistic activities. After the oil nation Norway in "The Norwegian Way", he now focuses on the peace nation Norway and the power of sound to influence people. The performance is performed in English. The project is supported by: Arts Council Norway, Fritt Ord, Spenn.no THE PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN NOMINATED 2012 FOR BEST PERFORMANCE FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH.
