In Sex In The War Zone, Kate Pendry takes the audience on a personal journey to and through the Balkans in 2002, seven years after the end of the war. The impressions of the war and its aftermath are recreated through Pendry's reflections on herself as a "war tourist". Alongside Pendry's unique stage presence, the performance contains her formal trademarks in the electronic soundscapes and strong political incorrectness. Her journey to Kosovo and Sarajevo, among other places, was a journey through images from a recent war. Her experience is expressed in the words of a war tourist who charges the experience with both shame and eroticism.
