"I can't come with you," said Kjell. Tull, you don't have a fever, said my mother. But I have a stomach ache. You're just excited! I don't want to steal from Pølse-Per, he's my friend!

The Sausage Thief is a book performance where musician Heidi Marie Vestrheim and actor Jarl Flaaten Bjørk visit the classroom with book and guitar and read and perform the book The Sausage Thief by Marianne Engeberg Grettedal. Together with the pupils, Heidi Mari and Jarl read, play and sing their way through the book.

The book is written in Nynorsk and is about Kjell, who is nine years old and born into a family where everyone is a thief. Kjell's problem is that he doesn't want to be a thief himself. He doesn't want to be like his brothers, his parents or his grandparents. Being born into a family of thieves becomes extra challenging for Kjell when the family decides to steal from the house of Kjell's best friend Sausage Per.

The Sausage Thief is about finding out who you really are and whether you dare to live the way you want to. In this book performance, Heidi Marie and Jarl play with the idea of whether they could be other than they really are. Perhaps Jarl could be a musician and Heidi Marie an actress? And maybe Kjell could be a horse tamer instead of a thief?
