Othello
Teaterkjøkkenet
Who do you trust?Jealousy is a green monster that eats love and turns into hate. And then anything can happen.
Othello is a story about love and hate, love and sorrow, joy and war, manipulation and betrayal. Othello is a hero, a leader. His girlfriend, Desdemona, is thoroughly kind, good - and sometimes gullible. Othello's best friend Iago has a winning nature, but says of himself that "I am not who I am." They fight for what they believe is right, both on and off stage, and the audience witnesses a life-and-death love triangle. They share their innermost thoughts and feelings with the audience, who witness how they try to make their own choices, how they are influenced by each other, and we see how they are mercilessly pushed to the edge of a cliff.
2016 marked the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death and Barneteatret Vårt marked this by producing this modern version of perhaps the greatest tragedy of all time. Pop art replaces old theater sets and the story unfolds between the three who love, hate and manipulate or are manipulated. The play asks the difficult questions about what it means to be human. For who is to be trusted? Who can you trust with your heart - your best friend - the one you love? Who helps you make the right choice, go the right way?
