Never AFK (Away From Keyboard)
Hafnor/Erichsen
Meet gamer Billie, a level 150 Warmage who spends most of her time in the colorful world of Phelmae. Billie loves to play and compete with her guild, but mostly hangs out with her best friend Buffy, a vain necromancer and Billie's faithful companion. One day they find an undiscovered part of the game ...
Never AFK (Away From Keyboard) is about a young person who spends most of his time in the magical world of computer games. The performance examines identity and relationships, and the dark forces that exist outside and within ourselves. In a visual and immersive journey, the debate about video games and addiction is brought to the stage, challenging our view of what reality really is.
The story and concept were developed through interviews and workshops with young people who play a lot of computer/TV games, and who feel stigma, powerlessness and frustration that their stories are not being told. Together with gamers and experts, we have through a process-oriented work built a story that sheds light on what a person can go through, both in the meeting with the game and with society outside, when life largely takes place in a digital existence.
