What do mailboxes and carousels have to do with death?

Morten 11 år is based on a book by Simon Flem Devold. A true story about how difficult things can also be strange and fun. About postmen, Lego, strange dreams, new friends and being afraid of what you don't know. Morten, aged 11, is ill and knows he's going to die soon. He writes an exceptionally honest letter to Simon Flem Devold about how his illness has brought him closer to his parents.

The letter is printed in Aftenposten's regular Saturday column På Skråss med Simon under the title "Et rart brev". This letter triggers an avalanche of letters from children about grief, illness and death. The letter contains an openness about death that children have missed.

Author and journalist Devold meets Morten, and through their conversations, the book Morten 11 år til is written. The performance is based on this book and follows Morten during the last part of his short life, with humor, seriousness and philosophical questions.
