Live Young; Die Fast
OneTrickPony
Cryonics is the practice of freezing the body of a person who has just died in order to preserve it for possible resuscitation in the future, as when a cure for the disease that caused death has been found.Live Young; Die Fast.. is a theater performance about Cryonics (freezing people). For many, Cryonics represents the solution to a dream of eternal life. It is an emotional and controversial topic with many ethical, religious and political issues. How can you justify spending billions of dollars on research to freeze and revive a wealthy white elite, when thousands die every single day due to a lack of coverage of primary needs? What is the relationship between one's own needs and the needs of others in this freezing perspective? What happens to the personality when/if you are brought back to life? Do humans have a soul, and if so, is it frozen together with the body? The performance is performed inside a converted shipping container where the audience is invited to witness the freezing ritual of a young man in a small room with space for 10 audience members at a time. The room is created as a concrete space where the freezing takes place.Inside the room you witness the last 15 minutes of the young man's life. The performance is supported by Arts Council Norway, Spenn.no and Oslo Municipality.
