On the outskirts of a city lies an abandoned and dilapidated house. One day, two people come to the house from opposite sides. They stand on either side of the house and think "I can live here!"

One is an old sailor who has finally made it to shore. The other is an orphaned little girl who has escaped from the orphanage. The sailor limps through the front door. The girl climbs in through a window. They meet in the kitchen. Neither of them knows what to say, but both think "I came first!". Thus begins the story of how these two agree to live together. It turns out to be a bit difficult. They both want to do things their own way and neither has much experience with houses or kitchens. What's more, they're both staff!

This is a quirky performance that uses elements from both old cartoons and the silent film genre. With an expressive physical language, playful use of scenography and sound effects, as well as mood-creating accordion music, a story is conveyed that is both funny and subtle. The theme can be read on several levels and is so universal that adults can discuss it afterwards with the children at the level they want. On the surface, it's a humorous story about how two very different people manage to coexist. Not just as a compromise, but as an everyday symbiosis where both are happier than before. The underlying associations are many. They may, for example, relate to the challenges of multicultural Norway and the rest of the world. Or to conflicts in the children's own everyday lives. The aim is not to impose a specific interpretation on the children, but to encourage them to think and associate.
