Iphigeneia is a farcical political satire based on Euripides' "Iphigeneia in Aulis", in which Agamemnon sacrifices his daughter to get wind in the sails so that the Hellenes can sail to Troy.Finn Iunker's texts have so far hardly been performed on Norwegian stages. This makes it all the more exciting that Verk, in particular, has seized upon his Iphigenia to create theater out of it in his highly distinctive and energetic way. With a subdued vaudevillian and epic acting style, tragic clowns reconstruct the events in Aulis. And they do so in a satirical and trashy atmosphere with political undertones. Verk likes to ask questions. About the world, and about the theater. Their Ifigeneia is characterized by this. In Finn Iunker's text, they have been particularly carried away by the playwright's resemblance to some of world history's greatest literary heroes and heroines, while at the same time identifying with Iunker's play with the theater as an art form.
