This is both a school project and an adult project, thinking about and reflecting on issues of human geography, identity and locality, cultural diversity, equality and inequality, migration and nationality. Together with our audience, we want to look at and think about ideas around where we are, where we come from and what we do. The school version is a two-part interactive project - an exchange of information, thoughts and views between two artists and a school class. The project begins with a box arriving at a school and a class. The box contains a letter from two artists as well as a disposable camera, tape measure, some questionnaires and other assignments/activities. The artists need information and photos from the pupils - about the school, the pupils, where they come from, what they eat, where they would rather be if they weren't at school, and so on. Afterwards, the box is sent back to us. We process the material and bake it into a performance that comes to the school about two weeks later. The performance includes text, sound and images. We talk about who we are, who we are not, where we are, where we are not, and show images and play sound from different places. This also takes about a school hour. Through our work and that of the students, a project is developed that says something about what it might mean to come from Oslo, Mogadishu, Kirkenes, Jerusalem or Hemsedal, and through that what it might mean to be from Norway, Scandinavia and Europe - or Israel, the Middle East and Asia. The performance seeks to reflect on big questions with humor, enthusiasm and naivety as tools. Available in both Norwegian and English versions.
