Absent hero

A tribute to our fathers who came to Norway in the 1970s. This is the story of our absent heroes – Norway’s entire forgotten generation – told through the eyes of children. The performance is a musical journey through loss and reconciliation, lifting the voices of an entire generation of children who are still searching for the fathers they never quite had – and perhaps never quite can have. It is a reckoning, a tribute and a declaration of love.

Absent Hero is a personal theater experience created by siblings Rohat and Pinar Ciftci. Based on their own lives, they tell the story of a forgotten generation of men – the fathers who came to Norway as labor immigrants in the 1970s. Many of them were physically present, but emotionally absent. This is their children's story.

The performance premiered at Rommen Scene in the fall of 2025.

Lighting setup: The lights can be adjusted to suit the room and available equipment. Please confirm this list or suggest relevant replacements. See lighting plan for more details. The ideal list is: ● 10 MARTIN Mac Aura XB or equivalent WASH movinghead ● 9 VL2600, or equivalent movinglight profile (2 in front can be replaced with regular profiles) ● 8 LED profiles on side light stand ● 6 Xled HD or equivalent RGBW par cans ● MDG hazer on DMX Sound setup: PA on stage with 2 identical speakers. Separate sub(s) installed in the venue. 2 microphones +++ Stage setup: The stage floor is covered with white sand that does not stain wooden floors/dance mats and does not create dust.
