Fighting gravity is about following your dreams and having the courage to stand up to the forces that pull us down, physically and mentally. Both the forces that live inside us, and those that affect us from the outside and help determine our fates.

The performance is based on the struggle that female ski jumpers have had to fight, and are still fighting, to gain the same rights as their male colleagues on the slopes. Through text, movement material and video work, the performance will investigate what kind of power structures lie behind these forces. The performance is an ode to young courage, and a reminder that old-fashioned thoughts and conservative attitudes are alive and well in our new millennium. The performance aims to stimulate discussion about gender roles and discrimination.

Fighting gravity is produced in collaboration with Brageteatret. The text has received a grant from, and is developed in collaboration with Dramatikkens Hus.
