It is certainly a little jewel of a theater performance - a musical story about Hans Christian Andersen and his fairy tales.

Like the ugly duckling, HC Andersen experienced being excluded and looked down upon by society before he blossomed as an artist and became one of the most beloved storytellers we know. The story of Hans Christian Andersen's life is certainly interwoven with the stories he himself created. Besides a cheeky and rather self-absorbed duck, we meet two dubious tailors who offer the Emperor new clothes, a wife who wants to make it big by selling eggs, a feather that turns into a number of chickens, and a soaking wet princess who turns out to be real - after a sleepless night on the pea. And of course HC Andersen himself!

A narrator, a musician and a number of puppets bring HC Andersen's characters to life on stage. In Niels Secher's beautiful and simple scenography, the stories are played out around the author's treasure trove, which turns out to be a magical theater machine full of rooms and scenes!
