Compassion Stories
Fahlstrøm & Trinidad
An interactive dance performance that activates the audience's energy and emotions through a combination of performance and workshop.
In the workshop part, the children are led through simple physical tasks that they encounter later in the performance part. These tasks are designed to build confidence so that the children can feel safe interacting with the performers and each other.
The performance is a collaboration between dance artists Jon Filip Fahlstrøm and Jens Jeffry Trinidad. Among other things, they use the concept of the mosh pit as inspiration. This concept is most often encountered at metal concerts, where the audience is given an outlet for power and aggression through free movement. This is possible because you share some ground rules and everyone knows that you support each other and make room for each other's physical expression. It's also a way of getting in touch with each other's energy to accumulate an even higher level of energy and a stronger awareness that you're in this together, something Fahlstrøm and Trinidad want to emphasize. In COMPASSION STORIES, the concept is adapted to the target group.
For Fahlstrøm and Trinidad, it is important to highlight that great energy and power can be experienced as something positive and a resource for children, and that the sensation it creates in the body is something you can become familiar with and confident in.
Throughout the performance, they also want the children to experience how body contact through high-energy dancing, leaning and lifting exercises with a different energy, and dance have a lot in common through physical sharing. Underlying this is trust as a fundamental element. Trust also creates the freedom to unfold.
COMPASSION STORIES allows the audience to be physically active and involved, exploring how their own energy and emotions resonate with what is presented through the performance! It provides an opportunity to express themselves in an exciting and creative way.
