Bestemors fantastisk elendige historier og Roalds magi
De Heldige AS
It all starts quite simply: with a boy named Roald, and a rather useless grandmother. Roald is seven years old, his father has died, and now he is going on holiday to Sarpsborg, where his grandmother lives. She drinks coffee, smokes, and wants to do as little as possible. Moreover, she hates having visitors, she would rather be alone. Roald is terrified of being bored. He so desperately wants his grandmother to tell him stories. And his grandmother agrees to try to tell him a fairy tale, but turns out to be disastrously lousy at telling anything.
But that's exactly why Roald likes to listen to her. Because when Grandma starts a story but can't finish it – then Roald takes over. And with a little imagination, and a little chocolate, there are no limits to where they can end up. Suddenly the living room is filled with slimy buggers, a chocolate river, a rat resident, the giant Gre Åker and strange creatures from other planets. Grandma disappears, and Roald has to use his imagination to find her again.
The performance is inspired by Roald Dahl, and perhaps most of all by the idea that stories can change the world. This is a performance that celebrates children's imagination. There is laughter, wonder, a little darkness and a lot of play - just like in childhood. Perhaps this is the children's first encounter with theater, and a reminder to adults why we must never stop playing.
