• Have you applied for assignments in the Cultural Rucksack (DKS) with your own performing arts productions without the performance ending up on tour?
  • Have you ever applied for inclusion in Scenekunstbruket's repertoire with a production and been rejected?
  • Are you wondering what it takes to get a performance shown at Markedet for scenekunst?

Markedet for scenekunst, Scenekunstbruket and Kulturtanken invite newly established performing artists who have defined children and young people as their main target group to a special introductory seminar in Sandefjord 26-29 August 2024. (Markedet opens 27 August, the seminar one day earlier.) Travel, accommodation and festival passes are covered by the organizers.

At the seminar, we will discuss the quality criteria that form the basis for the selection and inclusion of performances in DKS, in Scenekunstbruket's repertoire and at the Market for Performing Arts. As a participant at the Market, you will have the opportunity to see and discuss a number of theater and dance performances produced for a young audience.

In this way, we hope to help raise awareness among emerging performing artists about the artistic qualities of performances for children and young people, the rich artistic opportunities that exist in performing arts for children and young people, and to increase the number of good, new performing arts projects for this target group.

Program:

  • An introductory seminar the day before the Market opens, where you will meet representatives from DKS, Scenekunstbruket, Kulturtanken and the Market for Performing Arts' program council. Here you will get an insight into what those who select productions for DKS, Scenekunstbruket's repertoire and the Market for Performing Arts look for, how they work with the concept of artistic quality, and how assessment and selection practices take place. You will also be introduced to a practical tool that is often used in the assessment of artistic quality in performing arts for children and young people.
  • Experience a wide range of performing arts productions aimed at children and young people during the Market.
  • Reflect on these in a quality and target group perspective at daily reflection seminars together with the other participants.

The purpose of the seminar is to raise awareness among newly established performing artists about the artistic qualities of performing arts productions for children and young people, the rich artistic opportunities that exist in this field, and to increase the supply of good, new performing arts projects for this target group.

Based on the completed application form, we will select 8 participants who will be offered the opportunity to participate in the seminar and as an audience at the Market for Performing Arts, with travel, accommodation and festival passes paid for by the organizers. Most meals are also included. Before your stay, we will convene a joint online meeting where you will have the opportunity to meet the organizers and each other.
