Are you ready for the Showbox?

Welcome to Showbox, an international performing arts festival with a focus on children and young people. This year's festival runs from Tuesday, November 28, through Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Scenekunstbruket established the annual performing arts festival Showbox in 2005. Our aim was to strengthen performing arts expertise in the target group of children and young people, and to present new artistic projects to a wide audience from all over the country. The festival is being held for the 19th time this year and has become a very important performing arts festival with a focus on children and young people, both nationally and internationally.

The festival program is open to everyone, and it is possible to buy single tickets for both performances and academic programs. The program is released continuously, and tickets will be on sale from autumn 2022.

Scenekunstbruket sees it as one of our most important tasks to give the various environments that work with production and performing arts dissemination for children and young people the opportunity to come together. Over the years, Showbox has built itself up to become just such a gathering place and a professional arena in addition to being a good cultural offering for children, young people and families in the Oslo region.

During the five days of the festival, audiences, children and young people, professionals, organizers, performing artists and others interested in the performing arts will gather to see a variety of performances, participate in conversations and discussions.

Showbox serves as an arena for the exchange of experience, networking and project collaboration for organizers, performing artists and others who work with performing arts for children and young people. This equal perspective is important to Scenekunstbruket. We emphasize good meeting places, as well as making the festival program just as interesting for the audience in Oslo, as for performing artists and organizers. In this respect, Showbox is a development arena that stimulates and inspires increased dialog, collaboration between actors, and raising the status of performing arts for children and young people in general.

This year, as in the past, Showbox will be accompanied by a youth editorial team, who will be blogging about their experiences during the festival on ungestemmer.no.

Quality is one of Scenekunstbruket's most important trademarks. We also strive for this in the implementation of the festival. The aim is to present performances of good artistic quality and to show performances with different expressions and formats that appeal to different audiences. All in order to best show the range within the performing arts expression.
