Artist talk with Helena Krinal: Artistic practice and programming in our time
Thursday, November 26
In the dance performance Repeatclub with fABULEUS, nine young people meet, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. They show how music and dance can build bridges between people, regardless of background or physical appearance. It is about pushing boundaries, finding freedom in one's limitations and a community.
Repeatclub is created by choreographer Danaé Bosman, who has created several dance productions for and with young people. In Repeatclub, she explores how repetition and collaboration can create a common rhythm, a bit like a flock of birds.
fABULEUS is a unique production house for a wide range of performing arts, including performance, dance, circus and text-based theatre. The core of the business is the artistic collaboration between young talents and more experienced artists. The stage is sometimes shared by young people, and at other times by new professional performers. fABULEUS facilitates the development of their skills as performers, dancers or creative artists – here fABULEUS has created a unique international model. The productions reach a wide audience of all ages, with a particular focus on children and young people. fABULEUS is based in Leuven, Belgium, based at the Openbaar Entrepot voor de Kunsten (OPEK). It is one of three city-based companies in Leuven and is permanently based at the arts centre STUK.
