After fleeing a possible totalitarian regime, the three members of a feminist rock band create a new, participatory refuge – right in the middle of the stage in their exile.

They unroll and follow the tape, drawing graphic lines and defining spaces. Unpredictably and capriciously, the tape also spreads to the performers' bodies, revealing an invisible relational network. From almost nothing, they create huts and play with their own physicality – as dancer-puppeteer, actor and composer.
The soundscape they create together invites the audience to reflect on the concepts of refuge, metamorphosis and sharing. With a playful borrowing from female professional wrestling, they destroy everything, then start over somewhere else – for the better.

Les Nouveaux Ballets from France presents the performance SCOOOOOTCH! for children aged 2 and up at this year's Showbox.

Listen to the music from the performance:

Established in 2016, based in Lille in northern France and named after a Dadaist joke, the company presents the performances of the artist Amélie Poirier. Nouveaux Ballets conducts interdisciplinary research and produces performances for young people and adults, as well as for younger audiences – and, more recently, for public spaces. Above all, it is the dramaturgy that sets the framework for the various performances. The relationship between the body and objects is at the heart of the company’s artistic work.
