Within this party - Oslo edition: Stereo 48 (PS)

In Within This Party, we meet four unique dancers from Palestine, who bring contemporary dance and the energetic power of hip hop to the traditional folk dance Dabkeh. 

The dancers meet the audience in the marble staircase at the center, and lead them into the vault. This is a performance about freedom, culture and creativity, and you're guaranteed to feel like you're part of the party. The performance ends with a short introductory workshop in the traditional folk dance dabkeh that the audience can participate in.

Stereo48 Dance Company

Stereo48 is a Palestinian dance group founded by four young breakdancers from Nablus, who combine the traditional Palestinian folk dance dabkeh with breakdance and contemporary dance to create a unique and powerful dance form. In this way, they explore how dance can be used as a strategic tool to address both social and individual issues in Palestinian society.

Stereo48 has also made a name for itself internationally, performing at prestigious venues such as the Royal Flemish Theatre in collaboration with Les Ballets C de la B, and Théâtre de la Ville in Paris. In addition, they have collaborated with international dance companies such as NGC25 in France, Constanza Macras / Dorkypark in Germany, and Siljeholm-Christophersen here in Norway.

In doing so, they pave the way for a modern and dynamic approach to Palestinian body language and dance, rooted in both tradition and innovation. Stereo48's vision is to create a vibrant environment for dancers that allows for creativity, freedom of expression and artistic experimentation, especially in a challenging environment subjugated by a harsh political reality that imposes various restrictions. One of the most prominent is the restrictions imposed on freedom of movement.
